Life at the P.O.

It is amazing how fast you can lose the low key, relaxed feeling of vacation!!!!   Seems like eons ago!!!

Work has been crazy busy!!!!    The post office made some huge changes right before I left for vacation.  They tore apart 8 routes and sent those 8 people to other offices all over : Blythe, Victorville, Palm Springs, Moreno Valley, etc.     They can send us 900 miles away!!!!   Luckily I have 22 years in so I will be safe.....at least I hope so......  When they tore those 8 routes apart, they added them to all of the other routes.   I got 2 hours added to my route.    I worked 11 1/2 hours the day before I left for vacation.   Since I have been back, I have been working at least 10 hours every day!!!!  Most days I give part of my route to someone else to carry so I can be back in 10 hours.   With time changing it gets dark at 5:00, so also trying to get all my deliveries made before dark...... I have all businesses and most of them close at 5:00 so it is kinda difficult.   This will be temporary, we all know it can't stay like this, but unfortunately the post office never makes any changes during the month of December because of Christmas.   So.... we are probably stuck working these LONG hours til after the new year.......

Anyway.....that is just life.

I've been trying to sew a little bit in the few free hours I have.   Here is the pile of wallets I have been working on, trying to get them done for a friend who will give them as Christmas gifts.
Ha Ha, I realize it looks like a big pile of whatever......they actually are the pieces of the wallets, just not all sewn together yet........  I'm still working on them......

I had the 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving!!!!  First time ever in the 22 years I have been at the P.O.
I spent Thanksgiving with some friends and then spent the last 3 days catching up with chores and finding some time to sew and even a little bit of time in the evenings to read......

Today I made a big pot of bean and barley soup and threw in my leftover turkey.    I hate the cold weather, but I love having hot soup for dinner....with cornbread!!!!  YUM!!!!

Back to work tomorrow, but I made my flight reservation today for Mexico so that will keep a smile on my face!!!!   :-)

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
We all have soo much to be thankful for!!!!!

  1. What a lovely vacation you had, Shelly. So glad you enjoyed yourself. Those 'wallets' look interesting...where is the pattern for those?

Happy Thanksgiving to you...and hopefully the P.O. will fix the route issues you are having.

  2. Hey Sally, Long time no talk!!!! The wallet pattern is by Lazy Girl Designs. I have changed it a bit and found a great new velcro product to replace having to sew on those tiny pieces and keep them straight!!!!
