Central Coast vacation

Back from a wonderful trip to the gorgeous California central coast. I can't wait to go back!!! Stayed in Avila Beach which is on San Luis Bay. Saw a little bit of everything from just north of San Simeon to just south of Pismo Beach. Soo much to see and do I bet I could stay there for a month and still not see it all. The water sports are a big activity as well as hiking, so many trails everywhere. Downtown San Luis Obispo is just awesome, definitely need to spend more time there. The weather was perfect: crisp, clear and right around 70ยบ the whole week and only 1 day of wind.

Started out the first day with a 4 mile hike along the Pecho Coast Trail. This is a docent led hike along the hills and cliffs above the bay.(the property is owned by PG&E so no public access) Learned alot about the history of the bay and surrounding areas.

Took lots of pictures of different flowers and stuff along our daily walks, some of them turned out pretty artsy.....

Pismo beach was very cool, one of the quaint towns that seems to have stayed that way. The surfers around the pier were having a great time. Even though the water was colder than I am used to, I was really wishing I had brought by board. hee hee

Even got a picture of a train just for Dave. :-)

The Mission in San Luis Obispo is very nice and it is still a working mission. Could not go inside, but the outside architecture was great and the gardens were very pretty. There is a creek that runs thru town and you can walk along it for a couple blocks. There are restaurants that have seating overlooking the creek, very cool.

Went to Morro Bay and got to see Morro Rock!!! It is huge, stands almost 600 feet high. It was an island many years ago - just amazing to see it stand out all by itself -

Piedras Blancas (White Rocks) is just north of San Simeon and this is where the Elephant Seals come every year to mate. This time of year it looked like we just had the juvenile males. They didn't have the elephant looking snout on them and they were not all that big.

The little town of Harmony was a blink. There is a glassblower, a pottery business and what is left of a post office. They had a petition to sign to try to keep their post office open, you bet I signed it!!!

Montana de Oro state park has trails everywhere to hike. Nice views all around. Also checked out Spooner's Cove and finally got to see an otter. Oh how cute they are!!!!

Until next time........
