The 2nd week was just as good as the first!!!
Went to Spouting Horn, had a picnic lunch and watched the water shoot thru the rocks for about an hour.....you can see the swell coming in and you can tell it's gonna be a big spray and then....nothing....so you wait for the next one and the next one and the next one and maybe get 1 decent picture.... hee hee
Surfed again in Hanalei, but this time near the pier, the waves were much bigger. This is "THE" surf spot I guess. The waves were small compared to normal so that was good cause the really good surfers didn't bother......I just stayed to the side a bit and caught the smaller ones.....soo much fun!!!
I really wanted to go to Banana Joe's for a smoothie. They were closed last time I was on the island, (3 years ago) and guess what??!!! They were closed this year also..... I was soooo bummed!!!!
Closed til Nov. 1st!!!!! ( they opened 3 days after I left!!!)
Had to settle for another shave ice!!!!! :-)
I was also hoping for a Haupia Pie from McDonalds, but it was not their season!!!!! UGH!!!!
We hiked the Kalalau Trail one day:
This is at the beginning of the trail, looking back at Ke'e Beach
This was such an awesome little waterfall......the water had started in the top leaf and then flowed from one leaf to the next.
From the trail looking at the Napali Coast.
Made it to Hanakapi'ai beach. 2 miles down, 6 more to go......
The whole beach was these rocks stacked up......everyone leaving a little zen....
The next 2 miles was to Hanakapi'ai Falls......
The terrain was thick and sometimes the path very narrow and steep over rocks. Had to hold on tight not to fall down or fall into the many rivers we had to cross.......
"Hanakapi'ai Falls"
What a gorgeous waterfall.........it was hard to get the entire length in the camera.......
the pool was cold, but after 4 miles of pretty good hiking it was kind of a victory swim. A quick victory swim...... hee hee
We sat and enjoyed the sight, smell and sound of the falls, had some lunch and just enjoyed the scenery for awhile....
Now to head back!!!!
Didn't take too many pictures on the way back, just concentrating on where I was stepping. My calves and knee were getting sore so I had to pay attention to the trail......
Here is 1 picture of me in front of some bamboo.
I mainly showed you this so you can see how large this bamboo grows!!!! YIKES!!!
Made it back to the beach again.....
This kitty lives wild here I guess. He was pretty tame and immediately begging for food. I tried to give him some trail mix, but he turned his nose up.....guess he wasn't too hungry...
Heading back up the trail, one last look at Hanakapi'ai Beach and the Napali Coast.
Absolutely Gorgeous!!!!!!
Hard to believe the color of the water is real!!!!!
Made it back to the car and my whole body was aching........needless to say, we took it easy the next day, just drove around and looked at water falls....
This is Opaeka'a Falls.......
How'd you like to have that house at the top......pretty cool.
Had a picture of Wailua Falls also, but can't seem to get it to load correctly.
I HAD to have Plumerias in the room........ found this one again. I brought a couple back with me so we'll try again and see if I can get them to grow....... Shhhhhhhh
The trip was wonderful, very relaxing even though it was FULL of activity. We did find time almost every day to lay on the beach and read or take a nap. Found many hidden beaches that were soo gorgeous and not many people around.
Until next time.........
I'm so stinkin' jealous!
