Last Saturday night when everything was getting closed up, we had a large raccoon in the garage!!!! Now, we are kinda in the country here, so guess that is to be expected...... Mel caught her as he was locking up the garage. She did not leave easily, he had to chase her away....down the walkway towards the casita. He thought he better check out the garage and see what might have caused her to explore in there. Well...... there was a baby in there as well........Oh My!!! SOOO CUTE!!!! About the size of a football, all fluffy and just soo darned cute!!!!
I need to back up here a little bit....don't mean to be gross........something had pooped in the RV shelter either earlier that day or the night before, but we noticed it on Sat. Putting some light on it, we could not figure out what could make a poo that big that could get in the yard.....it had obviously been eating FIGS!!!!!..well......after finding mama and baby and then searching Google for Raccoon scat, we figured out that she and baby have been using this particular area as their latrine.......also from Google we read that there really is no way to get rid of Raccoons other than to have them captured and removed. You can, however, try to encourage them to leave. One way suggested was to put amonia around the area and they would avoid that area.........soooo, since we didn't have any amonia, we put some bleach around the edges of the opening of the shelter. That did nothing, Sunday there was more poo........So, Monday called for a trip to the store and a gallon of amonia. Amonia was sprayed all around and a rag soaked in it was put right on top of "the area", and we waited.......Tuesday morning there was a poo right on top of the rag!!!!! I think she is spitting in our faces....... Tonight a little more bleach was put down and we will see what happens. Google also said to try lights and/or radio.....that will be next.
She was living in the neighbors yard for a few days before coming over here.......hopefully she will want to move on soon. Oh.....I noticed this morning that one of the branches on the fig tree is broken!!!! mamma is about 30 lbs, way too heavy for the fig tree.
Hope you are having a great day!!!!
Oh dear-- I could loan you Arlo......
