Soo much to share~~~

Sooo, It has already been almost 3 weeks since my last post~~~kinda sounds like the introduction of a bloggers annonymous meeting ~~ Hi, my name is Shelly and it has been 3 weeks since my last post (clap, clap, clap)  hee hee   :-)

Lots has been happening around here, busy as it always is.  I do have to tell you that the momma raccoon and her baby are gone off to another yard where they probably found some peace and quiet.  We had a momma Mockingbird with her 2 babbies that we have had the pleasure of helping out.   We would watch momma feed them in the evenings, they were up in a tall yucca bush, tree, whatever they are.  Well, last Saterday evening we were having a glass of wine on the back patio and momma was going nuts, hovering and scolding us.  I caught a glipse of something and upon closer look, it was one of the babies way down low on one of the yucca leaves.  He must have either fallen out of the nest, or tried to fly too soon.  We left the patio so momma could do her thing and a bit later we saw the baby on top of one of the Rock Roses.
Momma fed him there for awhile.  It was starting to get dark and he ended up in another small tree where he stayed the night.  Momma darted in and out a few times to bring him food.  The next morning we saw him fly out of the tree and over to an avocado tree just in the neighbors yard.  Then we saw the 2nd baby in one of the Rosemary bushes near the lawn.
Momma kept taking food to the 1st baby, but she wouldn't feed the 2nd one.   The sun came out and it started to get warm.  We moved the patio umbrella to keep the 2nd baby in the shade, but soon realized he was not going to live if it got hot.  Mel put some gloves on and carefully moved him to the small tree where we knew momma could get to him.  He was soo weak, he couldn't hold on to the branch and he fell out onto the grass.   Mel got some water and dripped it on his beak and he opened him mouth, soo cute!!!!  You could see him revive a bit just from the water.   We let him be for a few minutes, knowing that momma could now get to him.  He stood up a little bit later and started to hop towards some cover, and he hopped and called for momma and he headed toward the back patio.   A little bit later we went looking for him and couldn't find him.   We figured nature had taken its course.     But then, to our delight, we heard a peeping and saw him under the avocado tree and we saw momma swoop down with a berry and feed him.... YEA!!!!!      We could hear the peeping for a couple more days and now there is only 1 baby peeping......I am thinking happy thoughts and telling myself that the 1st baby flew away and this is the 2nd one, who was a little bit slower....  :-)

We have had a couple great days surfing, actually any day at the beach is a great day!!!!   Here are some pics I took of the area that we like to go.   It is a bit of a drive, but we spend the whole day there and it is soooo worth it.   This is "San 'O"
This is actually Brenna's pic from her visit.  The fog was soo thick the day I took my camera you could not even see the water.
This is one of the many gardens planted along the bach.

This is the shower - in the middle of the garden.....

There are a couple racks to put your board....

This is the next garden - with the beach right in front.....and there is a shower in the middle of this one also.
Pictures don't show how neat it is, but it is just a glimpse.
A wonderful, peaceful place to spend a day.......

Sooo, back to what we do in the real world, when we can't be surfing and enjoying paradise......
We decided we needed to get the sutcco repaired and the rain gutters put up before we started in on the front yard landscaping......so, the work has begun!!!!

Cut down all the ferns in the front to be able to get to the stucco, you can see all the damage.

They had to cut thru and chip away all the old stucco and they put in new vents.

The next day, new stucco put on, all except the final coat.
Then after a little research and price shopping, we decided we are going to have them sandblast and re-stucco the whole house.......this is just the very top, thin coat.   It will repair all the little cracks that were not really fixable, it will smooth out all the patches that have been done over the years that you can still see and then we don't have to paint the whole house.  YIPEE!!!

The raingutters are scheduled for next week, but there are some boards that need to be replaced, so might have to put them off for a few more days.    Meantime, the rest of the fascia has to be sanded and painted.....

It is looking like a total construction zone around here...... hee hee

Work at the Post Office has gotten better this past few days.   They finally did our route adjustments and they ended up cutting about 40 minutes off my route.   My route is wonderful now!!!!  YEA!!!!!  They took off all residential deliveries, so now I am almost all businesses, but they are soo much easier, at least I think..... I have been doing my whole route and getting off work in 8 hours.  There is a little more tweaking to do, but all in all, it is sooooo much better.   And they told us that starting on July 29th we will be starting work 30 minutes earlier, so YEA I will be off at 3:30!!!!   WONDERFUL!!!!!  More time to go surfing after work!!!!!
It has been pretty hot, but I can't complain when I read about all the HOT weather we are having in the midwest and back east.......plus they have the humidity!!!!

I have been going thru all my fabrics - measuring and pricing.....getting ready to sell whatever I can.   I am trying to line up a place to have a huge fabric, craft supply, Longaberger sale.  I just can't see it working here at the house.....just not enough room and way too hot to have people mulling around.
I did find out that the library has a meeting room that they rent out, just have to find out how much, might not be worth it, but it would be a great place.....easy to find, plenty of parking and air-conditioned!!!!

The plumerias are starting to bloom:
One of my favorites, Jean Moragne has 2 HUGE flower buds!!!
Can't wait!!!

I tried a couple recipes that we had while in Canda and they turned out great.
One was a different kind of Quinoa burger
delicious and even better as a cold sandwich the next day!!!  And they freeze well.

The next was Honey Curry Chicken Thighs
A couple different ways to cook it, I made mine with breast meat and served it over Couscous!!!
Soo TASTY!!!!

Ok, I better go so I can finish the laundry and get something done outside today before it gets too hot.

That is what is happening in My Little Corner of the World, what's happening in yours???!!!!

  1. Hi, Shel....sounds as though the house is coming along. I can't sympathize with the heat where you are...it's miserable here - humidity is monstrous high! Thank goodness we have A/C and knitting can be done inside! So glad to hear that work is settling down for you. Hugs!
