I forgot to share this picture in my last post. This was a very cool idea we saw while we were wandering around Carlsbad when we stayed at the B&B.
This was an Eco, Green,??? Smoothie Bar on a corner lot. These succulent planters were on the side of a building.
I just loved this idea....
I have found a bit of time to do some sewing, mostly EARLY in the morning before work...... I really wanted to get a few things made and had to find the time somewhere!! :-) hee hee
This is a scarf I made from one of the batiks I bought in Bali.
These infinity scarves are very cool and pretty easy to make. I love this fabric!!!! This scarf went to Natalie for Christmas and she LOVED it!!!
Here are a couple more fabrics I want to make scarves out of. This is a cotton voile fabric....
This is one of the batik rayons I bought, I think the rayons would be great for scarves as well. I could go on and on with pictures of my batiks, but I know I am the only one who gets soo excited about them.... hee hee
But here is one more fabric I ran across that I just couldn't pass up..... No idea what it the world I will use it for, it was just one of those "gotta haves"
I have been working on the travel wallets that a couple of my friends have been wanting. Here is my pile..... It kinda looks like a mess, but there are about 50 wallets here that I somehow found time to make. I think I sold about 25......
I am really hoping to get my Etsy store up and running this New Year!!!
Ok, enough playing with fabric....
The avocado tree seems to be doing better, we are seeing new growth on all the branches.
We're just not sure what will happen with all of the really brown areas....
We do have a few avocados on the tree and they are a much better size than what we got this past year.
Sooo, this was part of my Christmas pressies...... hee hee
And why in the world would we need a load of gravel???? To go with this......
This is a Flo-Well..... We do not have any place for water from the rain gutters to drain to. We are planning on putting in a paver patio and the down spouts will put the water right where our paver patio will be. We also are putting in an outdoor shower and have no place for that water to drain.
We finally decided on what type of drain system we would put in and since we have had a bit of rain in the past month, we figured we better start digging while the ground was a bit soft.......well, the hole had to be 6 feet in diameter and 5 feet deep..... A BIG HOLE!!!!!! The first dig only got us about 1 foot deep. Then Mel had to fill the hole with water and let it soak in overnight.........5 days of this finally got the hold the size it needed to be.
The pipe had to be laid out to figure out where the ditches would be dug. These 4" pipes will drain into the Flo-Well.
The hole finally at 5 feet deep!!!!
Then the fabric liner went in.....a bit sloppy at first... :-)
And the first of the gravel.....
A foot of gravel for the base, then the Flo-Well which has also been wrapped in the fabric...... and the liner has been straightened out..... :-)
Wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow and finally we are getting the hole filled.... this took ALL day today.
The ditches are pretty much dug today as well, so we are ready for the pipe......
We have soo much dirt now to get rid of...... I guess we are going to put a pile out front with a free sign on it...... :-)
Soo, that is what we have been up to. Guess we had 1 more project for this year........ this was an important project, because the rest of the patio project had to be put on hold until we got this drainage issue figured out......Guess we will get started on the patios in the spring!!!!!
Hope everyone has a Safe, Healthy and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Happy New Year Shelly and Mel!!!
