Back from a wonderful road trip thru the southern state of Colima and into the northern tip of the state of Michoacan. First stop was La Manzanilla to see the big crocodiles........
we did get to see one in the water, just before he disappeared.
These crocs used to run somewhat free in this lagoon area and they would just walk out onto the beach. Sounds a bit scarey, but now they have the lagoon all fenced in and they charge 5 pesos to go inside to see them. Reluctantly we paid the pesos and once inside we saw about 6 crocs inside a cement enclosure with a tiny water area. Didn't see any in the lagoon other than the one above and that was for about 2 seconds. I think I would rather see them free and take my chances........
The beach here is very wide, not a surfing beach, more of a wading beach. Very pretty as are all the beaches I have come across soo far.
Check this out.....this is a termite nest........UGH!!! It is HUGE...
Next stop was Melaque for a short visit to say Hi to a friend. This is a busy little town right on the water. Wind was blowing pretty hard, no surfing there. It was getting late so headed to Barra de Navidad (or known as simply "Barra") We made it just in time for Sunset.....
Had dinner at this great little place that was decorated soo bright!!! They were laughing at me....the total tourist with my camera......because I took a couple pictures of them. Had an awesome huge burrito de pollo for 45 pesos and a GREAT margarita for 39 pesos.......WOW!!!!
and if that wasn't enough........along the Malecon there was a vender selling these huge pieces of cake for 20 pesos....that is about $1.60 US and it WAS delicious!!!
Headed to the beach the next morning, but no surf in site.......
Here is a view of the beach at Barra looking north......the very end of the beach is Melaque....
Here is a view to the south......where the surf "would" be.....
so......... we kept heading south......
Had to stop and check out Boca de Pasquales.....a well known surf spot. It was pretty flat here as well, but the beach was pretty.....black sand and a long, uninhabited beach....(that is probably because there was no surf!!! hee hee)
They were set up and ready for the few people who were in the area......
No surfing here so kept heading south....destination La Tickla......another big surf spot.....
