Another quick update on the progress of the backyard.....

Installation of the in line drip system is well under way.   This tubing is brown and has holes every 18" that water at a rate of .6 gal per hour.  There are pressure regulator imiters inside this tubing which control the flow of water so it is the same at the beginning of the line as at the end of the line
This one accidentally got cut in half so I was able to see it.  I didn't know this is how this tubing worked.  I thought it was just  Tubing with holes.......but then I understood the need for regulating the water pressure.

Mel has a installed most of the tubing for this stage.  There will be more installed later when we get to planting those areas. Our main objective for this go around was to get water to the existing plants.

I have had a couple friends ask how come it is taking this long, working every day for almost 6 weeks now........so......I decided to post a bunch of picsx showing the whole yard instead of just a sampling of what is being done.......
In line tubing down the side of the yard - had to clean out under all the jade and bushes along the fence to be able to get in there - there is a line right up against the fence.
Mel ran one of the lines right thru the flower bed - perfect!!!!   This is along the side of the casita.

Behind the casita running towards the flower bed and alongside the pomegranate.  I think there is 1 more line On the right to service the other side of the pomegranate.

A zig za thru the flower bed - yea, I know it is not looking good right now, but wait til spring!!!

Out of the flower bed and along the back fence.

Curving around what will be the path (later) on the other side of the yard.

Heading up the side towards the fig tree and shed.....the stakes mark the path.....with the tubing that will go to the plants that will be on the inside of the path.....

Up around the fig tree and to a couple plants along this fence.

Quite a few lines around the fig tree.....they will service more plants later.....

Along side the casita.....

This is more of the inline drip tubing - along side the path to the casita....

Around the moot ago garden and tubing running to service plants that will b behind the patio and shed areas....

More inline tubing......we had to remove a bunch of bulbs here and really cut back the salvia. Just couldn't get the tubing thru the middle of it and don't know that it will stay anyway - this area will eventually be all tropical.

So, the brown tubing has the holes right in it and the black tubing has to have the spaghetti line and imiters attached.   Here is 1 picture of the imiters - too hard to see from any distance.
There is typically 2 imiters on each plant, either 1or 2 gal per hour, but larger plants/trees have 4.

When I got home from work last night, this is what greeted me in the driveway.........
15 yards of mulch that will need to be moved to the back to cover all the tubing to protect it from baking in the sun and also to keep the moisture in the ground and keep the weeds down.    We will need about 30 more yards, but this should be ok til we get back.....not enough time to move more than this  before we go.....

So..... We are busy, busy, busy!!!!!!  I have my long weekend this weekend, can you guess what we will be doing????  At least I have a few days to help with all this.

Have a great one!!!!!
