Back to work and our little harvest

I have been back to work for 2 weeks now and it kinda feels like I never left.......
My first week back I only worked 2 hours/day and I had to drive the truck around and pick up the outgoing mail in the blue boxes around town......Easy, but a bit nuts dealing with all the traffic.  Since I have been pretty much at home for the last while I forgot what it was like to be in soo much traffic!!!!   This last week I worked 4 hours/day and I got to deliver the first part of my new route...... I think I am going to like my new route.  It is SOOO much different than my old one.  This new area is almost all residential and pretty quiet with not a lot of traffic, where my old route was right downtown and almost all businesses.   It is hard to believe 2 routes can be soo different.... I pick up very little outgoing mail and have very little mail that I bring back to forward, where on a business route there is always a ton of outgoing mail and lots to forward.    Everyone has asked me over the years why I stayed on my old route.......now I see how the other half works and I am wondering why I stayed soo long.......I simply loved my customers!!!!!    I hardly see anyone on my new route, everyone is at work.......
I had a follow up appt. with my doctor and he is going to release me to 6 hours/day, starting tomorrow and that will last for 2 months....  Oh darn!!!  I can't complain!!!!  :-)

The mulch is all spread throughout the yard and it looks soo nice!!!!
The nasturtiums are trying to take over again!!!!!  They are soo pretty, but I will keep them under control this time.
The stepping stones are finally put back, they have been in a stack since we dug up the yard for the irrigation.

We had a bit of a mess with different bricks kinda all over the place, so I made sure before the mulch was spread that all the various bricks were stacked together.  We also cleaned out an area where the previous owners seemed to put all the misc. extra materials that might be useful around the yard.   We went thru it all and put a BIG pile out front with a FREE sign.  It was gone in 2 days....YEA!!!!    That area now looks soo nice.

The tomato garden is getting huge!!!!
There are literally hundreds of tomatoes, but so far they are all still green.   I think we are going to be in trouble when they all ripen at once!!!!

The Honeysuckle is coming back very vigorously
Soon we won't have to look at the neighbor's weeds!!!!
And my little tangerine tree has finally decided it wants to grow---it must have known I was only giving it until this next spring to do something or it was getting yanked!!

The fig tree has filled in nicely and I did notice a few figs hiding inside.

A little bit of our harvest.....
The beans and peas grow soooo fast!!!!

The first plumeria to open.....
It is always "Rainbow Cup"........
Wait til you see the next one to bloom.......I am soo excited!!!!!   But you gotta wait!!!!  :-)

The hibiscus are soo colorful!!!!

I've been able to get out in the water a couple times and it feels soo good.   The water has warmed up a bit, so time to strip off the old cold water wax and put on the warm....Ahhhhh
I just love my board, pressure dents and all......I might have to think about getting a new one so I can retire this one while it is still in decent shape.   It is a keeper since it was shaped by Rich Harbour....

Found this great article on Harbour boards and it mentions my uncle Dean Elliott, who shaped boards for Harbor for a period of time......too fun!!!!     I should've had him teach me to surf years ago!!!!!

Oh well, it's never too late to learn.

Better close this for now.   Hope all is well in your little corner of the world!!  :-)

  1. Shelly, so glad to hear you are healing enough to go back to work, albeit on shorter hours. And the landscaping is amazing! You and Mel have done an enormous amount of work and it's finally paying off!
