What a wonderful First week in Mexico!!!! We have been surfing almost every day, the water is just about 80 degrees!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!
Finally got a little outdoor kitchen set up so we can cook most of our meals outside...got the BBQ (covered up)and a little Coleman camping stove. So far, so good!!!!
Nice to have the palm trees to enjoy while cooking!!! :-)
Bought a bag of oranges so I could have fresh squeezed OJ.....YUM!!!!
The Shrimp boats have been showing up during the day, about 7 or 8 of them. I guess they are out shrimping all night and then they come into the bay to rest for the day. This was just at sunset a couple nights ago. The local fish market gets some of their shrimp from these boats.
Can't wait to get some Shrimp for dinner!!!! It is my favorite!!!! Had a wonderful shrimp burrito at the Palapa restaurant, but nothing is quite like shrimp on the BBQ!!!
There are alot of gringo's here in Lo de Marcos and they do alot of fund raisers to help out the town. The most recent one was to raise money for swim lessons for the kids in the town. Soo many of them do not know how to swim, but they live right on the beach.
The fund raiser was a Boogie board contest along with a bunch of beach games such as Tug-o-war, egg tossing, and various relays......I have to say the Boogie Board contest was the most fun to watch!!!! Now, you have to realize that most everyone here is retired.........they call Boogie Boarding "Grays on Trays" Hee Hee... I thought that was soo funny!!!! So, here is a picture of part of the line up getting ready with their Boogie Boards
And here they go when the whistle blew!!! They had 20 minutes to catch as many waves as possible.
Now, most of the time the waves are just a couple feet high, but as soon as they got out in the water the waves got BIG!!! Most of them were about 6'.......But they handled it great, and kept on Boogie'ing!!!!
Soo much fun!!!!
I heard they raised about 7500 pesos, which is about $650. Not to shabby!!!!
Tonight we had one of the prettiest sunsets since I have been here!!!!
I hope there will be many more to share.
Tomorrow we are off on a road trip to the interior part of Mexico, to visit Patzcuaro, Uruapan and some of the surrounding areas. Some great history and lots of artisans. I will share pics when we get back!!!
Have a great rest of the week!!!
Sounds like you are having lots of fun. Love that sunset.
