106º and still chugging along

I can't believe the weather over the past few weeks!!!  They keep telling us it will cool down, but not so far....  This past Saturday when I got home it was 106º!!!   At work it was 93º at 9:30am and at noon it was 102º.  I never bothered to look later in the day, I just knew it was HOT!!!!!  The week prior we had some thunder and rain, but just for a couple hours.   We were working in the yard and just kept right on working, the rain felt so good.   :-)   It has cooled a little bit this week, I think we have been in the high 80's, but supposed to be back up to 93º on Friday.   UGH!!!  I am soo ready for fall!!!!

The front yard is finally starting to show some progress.  Putting in irrigation and filling ditches is slow work, so it doesn't seem like much is getting done.  We put down a couple bags of Gypsum to help break up the hard soil and then our neighbor came back down with the excavator to fluff the soil deeper (plant depth) and to dig the holes for the palm trees.
The white is the Gypsum and those areas had to be fluffed by hand!!!  Those areas are too close to the house and the gas, water and irrigation lines.
It took a few days, but finally got everythig worked and smoothed back out, ready for the roller.
Yea, one side rolled!!!!

Yard is rolled and palms are planted!!!

Weed fabric is down and drip system is installed.

Next comes spreading the gravel......12 yards!!!!
Some of this gravel will be spread around other areas of the yard where the current gravel has gotten thin.
Then a fun trip to the nursery to get the rest of the plants and work them in.....that will be the best part!!!!

I think Mel deserves a surf day or two or THREE!!!!!!

The fig tree is still going nuts...... I went out to pick some the other day and the tree is full of these beetles......
3 on this fig.
I picked a fig really close to this one and I disturbed them, all the sudden I had beetles flying everywhere......they sound like a swarm of bees..... soo loud...... I just ran and let them have the tree for the moment.  YUK!!!!!

The pineapple guavas are ripening also, I have no idea what to do with them.   I think the Pomegranates will be ripe soon and I will pick a couple avocados this weekend and see if they will ripen or if we need to wait another few weeks.   I found out the green peaches are actually white peaches.  I picked the few that were left on the tree, but this year the bugs got most of them.  Hopefully next year I will be ready and know what to do with alot of this fruit........Alot of learning to do still......

That should catch you up with what is happening in my world, hope you are having a great week!!!!
