I think Labor Day is supposed to be a day off!!!! :-)
Well, we have WAY too much to get done here, so I am taking the day off of work that I get paid for and laboring here at home for free!!!!!
We have spent the last 2 days working like dogs, trying to make a dent in these piles of dirt. I think we made a dent!!!
I don't even know how many wheelbarrows I hauled to the back yard, but I hope I am done with that. The dirt piles that are left should be about what we need to refill the irrigation ditches once that part is finished.
We are getting the grade figured out and the dirt fluffed up and smoothed out. The stick closer to the fence is where one of the palms is supposed to go, the others are the guide for where the path will be. Still a long way to go, but we definitely got a good start this weekend.
We found 2 separate irrigation systems buried throughout plus a ton of concrete that must have been borders around flower beds. We filled all 11 of our greens cans, plus there is a pile we have to try to beg the greens guys to take. We begged all the neighbors to let us put concrete in their trash cans, so we didn't have to get rid of just a little bit every week for 6 months!!!
Mel found this old plow tooth buried......very cool!!!!
This property was avocado and pecan groves many years ago. I wonder how long it has been buried!!!!
Have you ever heard of Green Peaches????
I was wondering why there were soo many peaches falling on the ground, and why the birds were pecking at hard green fruit!!! I figured the tree was just getting rid of what it couldn't handle. There were ALOT of peaches on the ground...... On one of my wheelbarrow trips to the back yard I stepped on one and it squished really easily. All the sudden it dawned on me that maybe these were a different kind of peach..... a Green Peach...... I picked one off the tree and sure enough, it was sweet and almost over ripe. It seems they ripen quickly, there were fruit flies on and in soo many. I managed to pick these, a little bit firm, but still ripe and sweet.
I can't seem to find any information on green peaches.......if anyone knows what they are, please share!!!!!
Back to work tomorrow, I need a break!!!! hee hee
Have a great week!!!!
