The front yard is finished!!!!! YEA!!!!
The last emitter was placed last Thursday night at 6:10pm!!!
We turned on the system Friday morning and it all worked perfectly!!!!! Just little drips coming out of each emitter----that's it!!!!
So, now everything gets water on a programmed timer and we don't even have to look at it. Everything is showing signs of growth so that is great.
The rabbits decided they liked the Baby Bliss (chomped this one down half way in one night) so we had to put up a fence for now. It is not pretty, but once the plants have had a chance to grow up a bit we can take it down.
The pictures still don't look like much, here are a few angles.

to the left of the walkway

looking towards the house from the street
angle from the driveway looking across the yard
There is a pathway that curves thru from the driveway to the gate on the other side of the yard but it is not real visible yet. Once the plants get bigger it will be more defined.... I can't wait for everything to bloom!!!
We got the trees trimmed in the back yard this past week as well. This is going to save me a TON of work raking up leaves. We needed to have the dead wood cut out of these trees and just have them cleaned up in general.
Here are some before and after pics.
The Pecan tree - before

The avocado tree - before

The huge Navel Orange tree - before

They cut away alot of fruit on these trees, but they were too loaded before anyway so now they should be able to handle what they have.
We had the Mulberry tree removed completely and now have to decide if we want another tree on that side of the house. The shade it gave was wonderful, but it was too close to the house and was messy.....as much as I liked the berries, it just had to go.

Soooo...... with all this trimming of trees, guess what????
We have MORE mulch!!!!
We will get to this in time.......
We got all this work done just in time to enjoy my long weekend. We haven't taken time to just chill in quite awhile.
I had my 2nd Shclerotherapy injections on Friday - boy did they hurt!!!! My left leg is still sore from the last ones so they did the right leg this time. We'll just keep plugging away a this and hopefully by Feb. I will be completely done and back to normal!!!!
Other than the injections we had a great weekend. We went to the movies and saw Chasing Mavericks ( a surfing movie) and went to a Halloween party and went surfing on Sunday morning (been awhile for me) and did a bit of shopping......
Mel will be heading south soon so we are getting the RV all packed up and ready to go. I should be scheduling my vacation time for next year soon, so hopefully I can get a couple weeks off in Jan. to head south as well.....
The pomegranates are ready!!!! OH soo yummy!!!!
I am experimenting a little bit with these little jewels...... I would love to make some Pomegranate Jelly, but not sure just how ambitious I will get. In the mean time I just love eating them by the handfull.
Ok, that is about it for now, hope you are having a great week.
See you next time!!!!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!
My goodness--you guys are amazing! But, it looks great and will look even better once those plants in front grow in.
ReplyDeleteOur house is officially on the market and now we get to deal with all that "fun" stuff. We have spent the better part of the last 2 weekends in the car away from the house. They were supposed to start the foundation for the new house this week but they've had some rain so we are still awaiting word on that.... Packing of the sewing room should probably start soon, groan.
I know that groan too well Liz.....I haven't even completely unpacked my sewing stuff.....hoping to get to more of it this winter.....
ReplyDeleteWell, you've been busy as always. The front yard looks great and it's going to look even better when things start to grow, next year will be exciting to see the difference. I know our yard has filled in a lot since we moved in a year and half ago, it's fun seeing it all grow. Give Dad a big squeeze for me xx
