A Break in the Heat??

Well, we have had a solid 5 days of over 100º temps......YUK!!! It takes every spare moment it seems to keep the plants watered and even then some of them just can't handle it. My poor hydrangea...... I'm sure it will come back, but it is soo sad to see it in this condition. We are only supposed to get up to 98º today...YEA!!! I have had to move alot of the plants into the shade of the fruit trees, the leaves are burning and turning black..... :-(

There are some flowers that handle the heat just fine, the naked ladies for instance. I don't think anything will keep them down. (But again they are naked so they can handle more heat.) hee hee

The tropical plants seem to be doing the best. This is a dwarf banana that I bought around Mother's Day this year. I have had to repot it twice because it is growing soo fast. It can actually get fruit on it if the conditions are right. Hmmm, who knows.... Right now it is on a small table under the patio cover. Too many more repots and it won't fit anymore..... :-)

I bought another Stephenotis
to climb on on wrought iron arch, it seems to be doing pretty good. They seem to be able to handle the heat as long as they have plenty of water. I can't wait for this one to cover the arch. At the rate it is growing, it might happen by the end of summer....
So, that's what's happening in my garden right now, hope you are taking time to enjoy yours.

  1. You might need to start naming those plants...does the name Audrey ring a bell?
