Fun Fair Find

I went to the Fair earlier this year and got suckered into buying some tropical plants. This is the same place I bought my papaya that the squirrel ate.... (it might actually make a come back - slowly...) When you bought 2 plants they gave you a "free" bulb. They gave me a Pineapple Lily. Well, I had never heard of this plant so had no idea what it was, but figured it sounded tropical so hey, let's give it a try. (it was free, right?) It was a plain looking bulb that barely fit in the palm of my hand and it had a pup shooting off the side. I thought, cool this is like 2 plants.... Well, I got home, got online to see what I had and how to plant and take care of it. They gave me a tiny pot to put it in, and I knew that would not do..... After burying it and waiting for several weeks, it finally broke ground. I was just happy to know I hadn't killed it, at least there was some life to it.....can you see it amongst the dirt???

Well, it has adapted very well to it's new home and it is growing like a weed. I can see now why it is called a Pineapple Lily. Don't know what it will look like full grown, but I will keep you posted. See the 2nd one shooting off to the side?.....
