I finished my large bag I mentioned before. My aunt found this great bag pattern when we were in Morro Bay and of course I volunteered to make it for her.
Credit where credit is due - bag is called "Sleep Over Satchel" and it is by Amber Howe Accessories - AHA -can be found at http://www.thecottonball.com/
Well, I didn't want to make any mistakes on her bag so I decided I better make a practice one.... I am not totally excited about the lining fabric I chose, but hey it was for practice. The outside is a faux suede with a nice etched looking print. The inside is kinda like a tapestry, but not as thick. (ok, like a cheap tapestry!! ) :-)
I have an interior design business that calls me every few months with the decorator fabrics that have been discontinued, and I am thinking I might try to make one of these bags out of some of those fabrics. I ran across 2 pieces that were the same, so I came up with this combination that I would like to try. The center piece is a fake leather that I thought might work good because it would be the bottom of the bag. Maybe give a little more stability. Just a thought, what do you think?
Great job! I love the combination with fake leather. Don't fill it so full of fabric that you put your back out, my dear!
ReplyDeleteJ, you are too funny.....this is a sleep over satchel, but I guess if I came to your house for a sleep over we would definitely end up at several quilt shops and hence this would be a shopping bag!!!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha
ReplyDeleteVery cool bag. I like the combo with the faux leather. Is this big enough to hold a quilt to tote around while doing binding? I'm looking for a bag big enough for that.
ReplyDeleteHi Liz,
ReplyDeleteYes, big enough to hold a 60"x72" quilt with some room to spare, I'll send you some pics. Great idea, I hadn't thought of that...
