Winter gardening

Finally got my winter garden planted, although with temp's in the mid 80's you'd never guess we were close to winter.  I think fall is going to pass us right by.  I must be late planting this year because the nursery didn't have much of a selection.  I had to buy my broccoli and cauliflower in the 6-packs, so the garden will be VERY full in a few months.  I also planted snow peas and snap peas and 3 different kinds of lettuce.  I'm trying celery this year and also bought some basil.  The basil also came in a 6-pack and I had to plant a couple plants in separate pots.   I have never grown fresh basil, but it smells soo good and on my SLO vacation my uncle made the best bacon, basil, tomato and avocado sandwiches on toast.  Oh were they yummy, I just had to plant some basil!!!  In the center of the garden is my pepper plants that were still doing very well so I hated to rip them out.  I'll leave them in for a while longer.

The Samoan Fluff plumerias are still doing very well with lots of buds still to open on a few different plants.

Check out the seed pod growing on the Rainbow Cup plumeria.  I have no idea how big this will get, but looks like I will have LOTS of seeds to try.  There are 3 of these pods on this 1 plant.

Here is my Pineapple plantation.... hee hee    These were all pineapples I bought and ate and then grew the plant from the top.  I've heard you can actually get another pineapple from an adult plant, but not sure how long that will take!!

And lastly, a picture of one of my Birds.  I just love these flowers, the orange and blue is just awesome.

It's been a busy day in the yard, but so glad to have had an extra day off to play in the dirt.  Happy Veteran's Day!!
