When we leave camp, we will get a thumb drive with all our photos and some instructional videos to help us at home.
Here is a building that is being built into the hillside right near our camp. They will be self contained rooms that will be rented out. The larger building at the bottom will be the restaurant. It will be very nice when it is finished.
The guys carve the hillside away by hand. That is a LONG drop down. They keep carving away, making room for more rooms.
Down the beach....unloading bales of grass.
They make roofs out of this grass.
Here is the beginning frame of a roof. I keep watching his progress every day.
Just a nice view from the road.
This is Keto and Barbara. Keto is comparing skin color...... :-)
A nice photo of Keto and Scott. Keto does not hear or speak. He showed up at the camp shortly after opening and he just started sweeping and cleaning up. He showed up every day and worked all day. He is now the camp maintenance guy, he can fix anything. There is a sign language that they have developed and he can communicate very well. Always a bright smile on his face!!!
This is Fian, he runs the juice bar.
A better picture: Dewi (sous chef), Fian, and Separ (head chef)
This is Seni - (sous chef) and her baby......love the Bob Marley hat,, :-)
This is Craig. He has just joined camp and will be here for a couple weeks.
Lucy. She is in Mel's group, I haven't gotten to know her very well.
Dinner time!!!!! Tonight was noodles.
Punishment pants for Simon today......
Simon is one of my coaches. He was supposed to teach a class this morning, we were all sitting waiting for him, ended up he was still in bed!!!! We called punishment pants for being late. He was a trooper.
The first day of camp we were told that if we broke any of the rules, we would have to surf the next session in punishment pants.......only a couple girls have broken the rules and they had to wear a kids batman costume!!!
The rules are simple:
Don't go in the dining room if you are wet. It is a concrete floor and can be slippery.
Don't be late to a class.
Don't go into the kitchen except to put your dirty dishes in the sink.
Don't go behind the juice bar.
Stuff like that. It is really easy to forget and walk into the dining room wet, that is the most broken rule.
Tonight one of the local boys was skateboarding naked.....he was too cute.....a little too dark to get a good photo, then the power went out.......
He would drop in at one end of the pool and ride all the way to the other side and up the wall, then backwards all the way back. He was having soo much fun!!!!
There is a walk I like to take every day, out along the point. It is very peaceful and beautiful, just enjoying the water and waves. I can get pretty close to where the kids are surfing, they are soo much fun to watch.
The coaches finally got some free time to head out to their own waves.
Simon
Rachael (Peanut). She is just soo cute!!!
These 2 are like brother and sister. I'm not sure of the meaning of the ring finger........
Peanut and I
I feel really old among all these early/mid 20 year olds. Mel and I are definitely the oldest ones here!!!!!!
All the kids hanging out at the skate bowl...
Dewi watching the kids skate.
When the kids saw me kayaking pictures they all wanted to see what I had taken. As we flipped back thru the surfing pictures they were all cracking up laughing and each other and themselves. At one point I had soo many kids around me looking at my tiny camera screen, I couldn't even see the daylight. They love to see themselves. (There are not mirrors around, so many have never seen themselves except on guests cameras)
Our time here is quickly coming to an end. I will miss everyone!!!!
