Inside the pectin box is a recipe for re-making your jam if it doesn't set up. Since they actually have directions for this I am assuming I am not the only one who has had this problem. :-)
If you have never made jam before I will warn you that it makes a MESS!!! You have to have large pots of water ready to boil as soon as you fill the jars and seal them, plus having the pot with your sticky gooey jam mixture, and then a place to set all these jars to fill them and then a place for them to cool. You can't touch them for 24 hours to see if they set correctly.....Whew..... I'm soo glad I only have to do this once a year. Hee hee.
Well, when you re-make your jam, it makes the same mess!!! But, this time it set up so the mess was worth it.
I think I have enough jam for a lifetime.......watch out you might be getting some for Christmas.....
I'm staying with Liz for the weekend----can we be official tasters? lol
ReplyDeletePut me on the list for a jar! I've never had the nerve to try homemade jam...my DIL makes Raspberry jam with her mom each year...it's wonderful...I'll leave the makin' to you and Jill and you can leave the eatin' to me, how about that?
ReplyDeleteJ & L Which house do I mail it to? Hee hee
ReplyDeleteSal, do you think Jill will barter next year?? Raspberry is my favorite... :-)
